I played a game of Shadowrun: Crossfire.

Our second learning game of “Wir sind das Volk”, played two decades and the east looks astonishingly fresh, but the west is already building up its economic might and putting pressure on the east. This game is a really fantastic experience, with lots of deep strategy. We are slowly getting a grip on what to […]

Feels kinda meh – Gandalf or Cirdan are not really characters I would want to exhaust to ready allies. And the +1 is low – at least Nenya adds Galadriels wisdom fully to another character.

/u/bboomslang on Tom Vasel previews Onitama, the next game available in the Dice Tower essentials line.
Play the duke with a variant of the hoplomachus deployment: draw three tiles and have them ready, openly visible, when you bring in a piece take it from the deployment area and fill it up from the bag. Possibly add the rule that the deployment area can’t be having holes, so if the bag is empty, the last pieces in deployment are not available (prevents to keep some joker back in deployment until the last moment – you have to use it or lose it). Since tiles are open, opponents see what you have available and can plan accordingly. Makes placement of tiles much more strategic but keeps replayability high by providing different setups and reaction options.

/u/bboomslang on What have been your recent impulse purchases?
The most recent one was Liberty or Death because of the gorgeous map. It was my fall into the rabbit hole that is COIN. I am doomed now. Already got Cuba Libre right after and sprang for the Falling Sky preorder, too. So it was more like a impulse buyi…

Can anyone give a recap of the solo rules here? I’m not on tabletopia and it really irks me that the rules book on the KS page doesn’t include the solo rules.

Kashgar: Händler der Seidenstraße is a good one for that. You build up three caravans with kinda a deck-building mechanism and when you get a really good one set up, you can run it round and round and round for the rest of the game (key is removing cards from a caravan that actually make them longer – that way you have the optimal order of cards you run through every round). Fun one, at least for me.

I am much more excited about that dwarven sellsword. Really nice addition to leadership heavy dwarve decks. My dwarves will be happy, I think.

Yay, Hoplomachus: Origins solo trial 4 down – the hoplite with the Adrenalin tactic is a nice Combo, AS he can run 5 hexes when activating his alt attack. Fun game and this trial is quite a but tricky – the start was a retainer to lure opponent gladiators to one side. Still mich closer win than it looks, because a Kings Rush could easily push the Zipa through for the win as it happened last game.

To add something about Origins: the solo feel of Origins to me is a case of “break this mini-game” for each trial. Read that in the sense that you get a setup and are out to find the perfect selection of gladiators and tactics and pos…
