Loyalty: 3
Obviously calling for Dragon tribal. Powering out Dragons seems decent, but this walker has no self-protection. He’s immune to [[Lightning Strike]] and [[Shock]], which is noteworthy. We’ll have [[Glorybringer]] for a while still, but Dragons are rarely played as a tribe and instead played for their individual value, so there are rarely payoffs for having a bunch of dragons. I’m not TOO high on this card right now, but he’s a three-mana planeswalker, so who knows.

The ETB with ghostly flicker and archaeomancer or chronomancer or the likes out can be tons of fun, too. It goes wide, so you can soften up the table before going one-on-one with his Planeswalker side. And that way he stays relevant, even if you still need to build up his flip mana. He definitely isn’t a do-nothing commander, I really like him.
Preparing with discard to get the god pharaoh in graveyard, the flip and reanimate, that would be hilarious fun. Or get Tezzeret the Seeker and another Bolas in, have rings of Brighthearth, the flip, reanimate two, grab chain veil and trigger all three walkers again, use Tezzeret to Untap chain veil and do it again? Just need Infinite Mana First, easy to do in Grixis colors.
Ah, magic Christmas land.

Personally, I see him being a great “Grixis good stuff” commander. I bought the wizard precon last year and largely sat on it; this will be my opportunity to spin it into something I could have fun with.
He does, however, run the risk of easy removal in competitive play groups before you can transform him. I think he’ll see more play at battle cruiser tables.
