/u/bboomslang on Do you play games on week days or weekends typically?
Weekly board game meeting for our area of the city, organized by my wife and I. So, weekly and weekdays. Additionally we often play on weekends, for example at the restaurant or at home, too. So rarely a week without some gaming.
/u/bboomslang on Wow! May is already almost over! How is your shelf of shame doing?
I cleaned out some areas in a closet to hide it. Works like a charm …
/u/bboomslang on How many people are in your play group typically?
I’m doing quite a bit of solo play, but my main play partner is my wife and we have some games we carry with us when out and about – waiting for food at the restaurant is perfect for The Duke or Red 7. We have an open boardgame meeting every week, so we get bigger groups, too. Sometimes we do plays with 6-7 people (usually drafting games like 7 Wonders or Between two Cities and sometimes some Codenames), but more often when we are at 7-9 players we play in two groups. Easier to teach new games when there are only 2-3 new players in a group. Our main goal in the meeting is to actually teach new games to people, so there is a regular turnover of games at the table, usually one easier one that people know and one new thing. But I like when we play in a bigger group every now and then, it is hilariously chaotic.
/u/bboomslang on Itβs Friday!!!πππ What are you looking forward to playing and why? (6/1/18 edition)
Finally got my copy of One Deck Dungeon: Forest of whatnot out on the table. Good weather, so I could play on the balcony – needed for the smelly plastic cards. Damn, they really got the poison theme going π – gamewise a fun little minimized rogue-like (at least it feels closest to that for me from the games I played in that genre). Not too thinks, just a fun dice chucker with some fun theme. If the weather stays good, it will see more play for sure. The Wars of Marcus Aurelius sadly didn’t find time, which I hoped to break out this weekend, too. Oh well, more weekends to come.

/u/bboomslang on Quick deck building games
Valley of the Kings is one I always liked, as it is quick, simple, compact. Theme is a bit painted on (well, it is an abstract with images on cards), but that never bothered me.
/u/bboomslang on [BBD] Fumble (easiest anti-Voltron answer)
Well, yes, just sacing the other creature works, too, but Rube Goldberg says the other way around sounds better π (and hey, let’s just assume both have stuff equipped / enchanted you don’t want to lose)
/u/bboomslang on [BBD] Fumble (easiest anti-Voltron answer)
You did notice it doesn’t say opponent, right? This can help Voltron – bounce your own, move equipment and auras around in response to opponents edict.
/u/bboomslang on [BBD] Spellseeker
Could definitely see this in Jace High Tide – Dizzy Spell is much worse at same cmc, if you only see the tutor effect, and leaves a body behind. It is probably easier to counter, though, but as redundancy to find other stuff aside from High Tide, I thi…
/u/bboomslang on [BBD] Arena Rector
I think it can be interesting in 1v1 to cheat in an early Ugin. That is one of the planeswalkers that really dpes some work in 1v1 by blowing up boards. So I could see it in something UWx as a safety valve and to get a value PW like Tez in Esper maybe.
/u/bboomslang on An idea for Grixis Death’s Shadow
Well, I am a delver man, so peek at the top of your deck with delayed or decoupled draw is something I have experience with and it is damn solid. Makes Fetches that much better. And instant speed draw with opt or scour and an uncracked bauble on enemy turn can be fun, too. It still irks me that snappy doesn’t synergize with them, but I currently run only 3 of them anyway, so I think that shouldn’t be a big deal.
/u/bboomslang on An idea for Grixis Death’s Shadow
Yeah, that’s where I got it from, quite some interesting developments by him on GDS.
/u/bboomslang on An idea for Grixis Death’s Shadow
I just ordered Baubles, as I will switch to the 17 lands with 4 baubles list, which will open some places for looting. I think I will only try one for now. No idea for serum visions based lists, they always feel very tight already, not much wiggle room.
/u/bboomslang on An idea for Grixis Death’s Shadow
How about instead run 1-2 Faithless Looting to get rid of air later in the game instead? I read a few discussions where that was an idea, removing superfluous lands or wraiths for more gas, in addition rising the chances to hit your SB cards in games 2…
