Dang, took me 4 tries to solve the Station room 2 in Triplock. So the campaign is a fail (as I can only use – characters and they are all done), but at least I got that room solved. It is a beast with getting points and solving the room, especially if your diagram doesn’t align well with the room pattern. Fun little filler with great components – totally overproduced, but I love it!
Shared on Google+ by Georg Bauer: Dang, took me 4 tries to solve the Station room 2 […]

/u/bboomslang on Do themes pull you in or push you off of playing and or buying a game?
Same here, so I am very reluctant to buy titles in those genre, because she is my main gaming partner, and even fir our game groups, for me to try games before game night, I need to pull her into a game or two, so no SciFi or Fantasy.

/u/bboomslang on Dragonfire – finally, a release date!
Does the 2-6 players mean it can really be played with just two characters fully, or are there again “role shenanigans” to follow through like with Shadowrun? I don’t mind those, but in SR the roles mainly were a case of “being a target for obstacles” whereas in a Day&D game I would expect them to have more meaning.

One that hadn’t been suggested so far – and it might be a bit hard to get, as it just was delivered for its kickstarter backers – is Godforsaken Scavengers. I really enjox it currently, portable, quick setup and tear down, small space…

with an hours drive it isn’t even L anymore, which leaves it at GS.
/u/bboomslang on This is supposed to be a combo, but I don’t get it
yeah, that combo kinda misses an important thing: the combo.
/u/bboomslang on Your Favorite Game of 2017?
hmm, hard to say. for solo play probably 7th continent and for multiplayer The Godfather – at least those two are the only 9/10 games for 2017 in my collection. But Azul is damn close, as are Codenames Duet and Nemo’s War (this one for solo) – they are 8/10. And with some more play I totally could see them rise. Because as good as the godfather is, I might get the others to the table much more often and regularily.

My second play of Churchill. I really love the game, but man does it take time. Ok, I had to relearn, as my last play is quite some time in the past, but still – the training scenario took like 4 hours. Fun hours, but wow, this drains me mentally. Great play this time, the […]

For me the following games provide that pre-building itch-scratching:- The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game provides hours and hours of deck building and then running that deck against different scenarios to see how it works out. This…
/u/bboomslang on What have been your "walking out of the theater" moments in board gaming?
Sword&Sorcery. Too much fiddly stuff going on for group play for me – I am usually the game teacher and this started early to turn into my wife pestering me with questions about stuff not yet described. Even my usual “let’s have a test round or two and I describe while stuff happens” didn’t work, as too much is connected with other stuff. Game!e works great solo and probably also when players familiarise with the rules up front, but that never happens at our game nights, so this will go into the solo-only pile. A bit sad, because I can see the good game beneath the pile of stuff, but well, it is as it is. Too many good and great games that work with my groups much better.
In case anyone is wondering if Codenames: Duet can be played with pictures from Codenames: Pictures: yep, works like a charm and we actually enjoy it much more than with words. With words it felt annoyingly difficult, so we tried it with pictures and finally got our first win. For us the pictures are much more open in finding common things, whereas with words we constantly ran into situations with words that we couldn’t get combined in any way.
Spiel) Shared on Google+ by Georg Bauer: In case anyone […]
